Purpose

Every morning as my alarm clock goes off, I quickly hit the snooze button and dread having to get up and start the day. I awake every morning and start the usual routine to head off to work…I must be living the true American dream.

I grew up watching my parents—all of them—sluggishly begin their day and head off to a job that they loathed. It was the same thing every morning, and now I have fallen into that beloved pattern. I go to a job every morning that is beyond easy, due to my over qualifications and the lack of work load; however, this job is not intellectually stimulating. The job has no purpose, not substance, no meaning.

But what does have purpose and meaning? Each individual will provide a completely different and unique answer. To me, purpose is more of a fulfillment…what fulfills you; what makes you happy? What is worth getting out of bed in the morning, putting on a pair of heels, and driving into the morning sun?

Ah, the age old question. Some people will struggle their entire lives trying to find fulfillment in life; others will easily attain and spend their days achieving and accomplishing. Unfortunately, I am in the former instead of the latter. However, I am discovering my passions and the things that do bring me fulfillment in life—now to bring those to the forefront and to shine the focus on them; that is the true challenge.

I’m standing on the start line, waiting for the whistle to be blown. I’m ready to hit the ground running to achieve said fulfillment and happiness in life; wish me luck on this journey—I’ll keep ya updated :-)
