What Dreams Are Made Of

I’m standing in a brightly lit basement, looking at my hair in the mirror. Angie runs up to me, about to cry, and just points at the dress she is wearing. The beautiful coral sundress has a huge red mark across it, apparently from lipstick. As I stare blankly at the stain, Angie continues to well up and apologize profusely, “I’m so sorry, what can we do?”

“Don’t panic. I bought an extra incase one of you got a stain on it before pictures. Here,” I say as I hand her a brand new coral sundress. “Be careful.

I return to making sure my hair is perfect and checking the clock, hoping everything goes well.

About that time, Angie comes running back up, with a matching stain on this coral sundress. A quick glance at the clock informs me that we do not have time to wash either one of the dresses before we are due to be on. Fuck. I tell Angie to go fill the big basin sink with hot water and pour some washing detergent in there and let them sit for the time being. Panic is beginning to set in.

“I’m so sorry. I don’t want to ruin your pictures,” Angie exclaims.

“Pictures… Holy shit, I never hired a photographer!” True panic and tears begin rushing. A quick dash to my phone and outside to the guests, finds an old friend from high school who specializes in photography. After beginning and offering to pay double, she agrees to do my pictures at the last minute. A return to the basement finds me face to face with my mother, and other people.

I first look to Amanda to confirm that Adam has in fact arrived and that is one less thing to worry about.

Now back to the dresses. Amanda, bless her, was able to find some stain remover and quickly went to work, while I tried to scramble to get ready in the next 10 minutes…we were already running late.

Luckily, my alarm saved me from finding out if I ever made it to my wedding with stain free bridesmaid dresses. I’m not even engaged and I’m already having wedding nightmares. Help me.

  1. You need more Rastafarian remedies in your life, love. If you had more Rasta love you would have less nightmares =)
