A day at the Hospital

After spending the entire day on the pediatrics floor in the hospital, I have discovered that even the most boring day at the office is better than that place.

Not only is it boring sitting there with the little brother, but it is also beyond gloomy. We are in the last room on the hallway, away from most of the interaction; however, conveniently close to the exit. I was there for a six to seven hours, and only saw the same person, and it wasn’t the doctor. The rainforest theme, I believe is supposed to brighten the pediatric ward up some; however, I believe that real windows with sunshine would do a much better job. When I went to pull the shades on the window, I discovered it was a fake---there was a boxed in wall around the “window.” No people interaction, no sunshine.

The game room, however, did have plenty of sunshine, and games. My brother decided to stick to the Wii and sadly, he beat me in almost every game. Upon return from the game room, we were pleased to find lunch delivered shortly. Or at least the little brother was. Apparently they feed the kids better than the adults.

Besides the lack of social contact, sunshine, and edible food, I guess it wasn’t but so bad. The little brother is doing much better and may be home by the weekend :-)
